Correspondence Notifications (Appellate Courts only)

Notifications related to letters and memos from the court

For various reasons, the Appellate courts may generate and forward correspondence letters and memos to the attorneys and pro se participants on each case. These communications are historically those that are sent by the court through the regular mail. When an attorney or pro se litigant is registered via PACFile, however, correspondence notifications ensure that these letters/memos are also forwarded electronically. You can recognize these notifications by the text in the Notification Type column. On this notification type, hovering your mouse pointer over the Document icon Document icon displays a form/report number, which can generally be disregarded, followed by a brief name for the court document.

Court orders do not generate Correspondence notifications. See eService Notifications for more information on orders.

eService notifications from the court for third or non-party participants

Notifications where the Subject includes the words electronic correspondence are created in the limited scenarios where another participant has submitted an electronic filing and you are acting on that Appellate Court case in a third or non-party role (ex. Amicus, Intervenor, etc.). This is an eService notification. These notifications represent an exception to the rule that typically delivers all electronic service as eService notifications.
