Submitting a Filing with a Fee

Many case initiating filings, and some filings on existing cases, carry a court-imposed fee. With the exception of indigent filers (IFP) or submitters who are eligible to be invoiced, the fees levied by the court must be remitted before the corresponding filing can be submitted. When a submission carries a fee that requires immediate payment, it is important to complete the following in the Payment and Submission page:

1.

Select the checkbox signifying that the filing complies with the provisions of the Public Access Policy.

2.

Click on the Actions dropdown and select Submit to Court.

3.

Verify that the filing is ready for submission. The sum of all of fees, excluding the convenience fee, is reflected in the subtotal. Click Submit.

4.

In the Checkout screen, complete all fields with a red asterisk (*), and then click Continue.

  • The First Name and Last Name must match the name that appears on the credit card.

  • The address must match the one associated to the credit card (often where the card's statements are mailed).

  • The Email Address provided will be sent an e-mail confirmation once payment has been accepted.

5.

In the payment popup, enter your credit card information:

  • In the Card Number field, enter the 16 digit number appearing on the front of your card with no spaces or dashes.

  • In the Card Security Code field, if you are using a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card, enter the three digit number that appears on the back of the card next to the signature line. If you are using an American Express, enter the four digit number printed (not embossed) on the front right of the card.

  • In the Expiration fields, enter the month and year the card expires.

6.

Click Add to submit the filing. The credit card will not be charged until the filing is accepted (docketed) by the court.
