My Proxies

If you have received a request for proxy rights, or granted them to another PACFile-registered individual, the My Proxies grid within the My Profile screen is used to manage both. As a granting authority, you have the ability to designate proxies and assign them privileges as you determine. In addition to accepting proxy requests, you can designate any PACFile-registered individual as your proxy unilaterally. You have the option to pick and choose the tasks each proxy can perform on your behalf and the PACFile notifications they should receive a copy of at the same time they are sent to you.

Accepting or Denying a Proxy Request

When a request has been made by someone to proxy on your behalf, their name displays in the My Proxies grid. You can choose one of two actions based on the icons that display:

  • Approve user's request icon Approve user's request icon - clicking this icon accepts the individual as a proxy and provides the options to assign them their proxy rights.

  • Decline user's request icon Decline user's request icon - clicking this icon denies the request and removes the individual from the grid. This action does not prevent the individual from requesting again in the future.

Adding a New Proxy (without a request)

Any PACFile-registered user has the ability to create a request to proxy on your behalf, which is especially common if you are an attorney. If you prefer a more proactive approach, you can establish a proxy relationship without waiting for a request. To add a proxy, complete the following steps:

1.

Click the Add New Record icon Add New Record above the My Proxies grid.

2.

In the Add Proxy User screen, click on the Search By dropdown and select Name.

3.

Use the Last Name and First Name fields to enter this information for the prospective proxy.

4.

Click in the City field and enter the location of the proxy. The city typically pertains to the location where the individual works.

5.

(Optional) The State field defaults to Pennsylvania. Update this value if necessary.

6.

Click the SEARCH button. After a few moments, search results will display.

7.

Click the checkbox that appears to the left of the appropriate individual.

8.

Click the SUBMIT button. If a popup appears indicating that your changes have been saved, click the OK button.

9.

Grant proxy rights to the new proxy. Refer to the Available Proxy Rights and Available Notifications Rights sections below for more information.

Available Proxy Rights

After an individual has been designated a proxy, you can assign them rights through the Edit User Proxy Rights icon Edit User Proxy Rights icon. In the User Proxy Rights popup screen, each proxy can be assigned any of the following rights by clicking the corresponding checkbox:

  • Access Management User - Empowers the proxy to accept or reject any future requests by individuals asking to proxy on your behalf. Once assigned, all other proxy rights can be assigned by this individual to your proxies, except this one, which is reserved solely to you.

  • Create Initiating Filings - Provides the authority to create new case action filings on your behalf. This does not include the authority to approve or submit filings.

  • Create Ancillary Filings - Provides the authority to create filings for existing cases on your behalf. This does not include the authority to approve or submit filings.

  • Approve Filings - Delegates supervisory authority to approve filings created on your behalf by any proxy that has not been granted this privilege. Use of an approval process is not required. If you do not require your proxies to submit filings for review prior to submission, this right should be assigned to all proxies who also have the Submit Filings privilege.

  • Submit Filings - Provides the authority to submit and pay for any filing created on your behalf. This does not include the authority to create or approve a filing. Filings cannot be submitted by a proxy without both the Approve Filings and Submit Filings privileges.

Available Notification Rights

After an individual has been designated a proxy, you can assign them notification privileges through the Edit User Notifications icon Edit User Notifications icon. In the User Notifications popup screen, a list is available of each of the notifications that can be assigned. When granted, the proxy will receive a copy of the same notifications that are sent to you. Refer to the Person-to-Person Proxy Notifications topic for a complete list of the available notifications that can be shared and their purpose.

Changing Proxy Rights

The rights of any of your proxies can be changed at any time. To add or remove one or more of the available privileges, click the Edit User Proxy Rights icon Edit User Proxy Rights icon or Edit User Notifications icon Edit User Notifications icon, select/deselect the appropriate checkboxes, and click SUBMIT.

Removing a Proxy

To revoke all proxy rights for an individual, click the Delete icon Delete icon that appears at the far right of their name. If needed, these rights can always be granted again later.
